Pergola Calculator — Design in 3D and Estimate Materials Online

Design a Custom Pergola Online

This 3D pergola calculator lets you configure size, roof overhang, and decorative infill — and see the result as a real 3D model with a full material breakdown.

It's built for homeowners planning a pergola project and contractors who need fast, accurate estimates.

Why people search for pergola calculators

“How much does a pergola cost” gets over 40,000 searches per month in the U.S. Most of those people are in early planning — they want a number before calling anyone.

The problem is that pergola cost depends heavily on size, materials, and design details. A 10×10 and a 20×30 with roof overhang are completely different projects.

What most calculators miss

Basic pergola calculators give you a price range. That’s it.

They don’t account for:

  • actual post count based on span
  • beam and rafter lengths by size
  • roof overhang on each side separately
  • decorative infill panels between posts

What this pergola calculator does

You set the real parameters:

  • length, width, height
  • left, right, front, and rear roof overhang
  • decorative infill style between posts

The calculator builds a 3D model and generates a complete material list — posts, beams, rafters, sheathing, infill.

How it works

  1. Set your pergola dimensions
  2. Adjust roof overhangs on each side
  3. Pick an infill style for the wall sections
  4. Get your 3D model and material list
  5. Download or share the result

What you get

  • full 3D model of your pergola
  • complete material breakdown by component
  • post, beam, and rafter counts with lengths
  • export for building or contractor quotes

Who this is for

This tool is useful if you:

  • are planning a backyard pergola
  • want to compare sizes before deciding
  • need a material list before buying lumber
  • are preparing a quote for a client

FAQ

There is a detailed guide available. How to use the online pergola calculator →

What sizes can I configure?

Any size within standard lumber constraints and the limits built into the configurator. Set length, width, height, and overhangs freely — the calculator automatically handles post spacing and beam lengths.

Can I add decorative panels?

Yes. Click the green + buttons between posts to add infill panels. Several styles are available, including X-brace patterns. More decorative panel options will be added in future updates.

Can I change beam and post sizes?

Beam sizes can already be customized. Post sizes are not yet adjustable — this is planned for a future update. Click any element group in the 3D model to open the editor and choose from available lumber dimensions.

How accurate is the material list?

It’s based on actual geometry, not averages. The closer your dimensions are to the real project, the more accurate the output.

Can I download the 3D model?

Yes. Export as .gltf and open in Blender, Sketchfab, AutoCAD, or view in augmented reality on mobile.

Is it free?

Yes, the basic version is free.
